Kindhearted Kinders: November 14th

I am looking forward to meeting with families this week during conferences!

Kindergarten conference times are:

Wednesday Nov. 23 from 1:00pm - 5:00pm (There is still school for students this day)
Thursday Nov. 24 from 8:00am - 7:00pm (No school for students this day)

During these conferences I will be sharing your child's Early Years Evaluation - Teacher Assessment (EYE-TA) report with you. I will be sending a copy of this assessment home with your child on Monday or Tuesday for you to review and have for reference during our conference. This week in Kindergarten we continued learning and exploring about different feelings and emotions. Some of the books we have read include:

In each story, we looked closely at the way the author or illustrator gave us clues to help us predict and understand each feeling better. For example, the colour red was often used to describe angry and the colour yellow was used for happy or busy. Students also looked for feelings in the facial features - silly eyes, sad mouth - and began to use the first letter of the feeling word as a clue as well - "I knew it was jealous because the word starts with a 'j' and I can see the girl is jealous that her dad is holding the baby." We also had tons of fun role playing and acting out the many different emotions that we often feel!

Students did a great job remembering to bring back their library books.
