November 28th - December 2nd

It was a chilly week...but the Kindergarten room was filled with lots of warm hearts! 💙

It was a busy week as we began exploring new centers, started our 'All About Me' books, challenged ourselves to add letter sounds to our journal work and had a visit from a new friend!

Learning Intention:
- children experiment with sounds in words
- children make connections between letters and sounds in words

I can:
- understand that words are made up of sounds (phonemes)
- identify sounds at the beginning, middle and end of spoken words

We have been working on learning to listen carefully for the different sounds that we hear in the words we speak. Students are beginning to make connections between the sounds that they hear and the letters that represent those sounds. During journal writing, some students began recording the sounds of the words they wanted to write to go with their picture.

After reading the story, Library Mouse by Daniel Kirk last week, we were inspired by the little mouse author to write our very own books all about us! We can't wait to fill our classroom bookshelf with the wonderful stories we create once they're done!
