January 9th - 13th

This week we worked on getting back into routine and on schedule! Students were excited to see their classmates and share all about their holiday adventures. We reviewed the expectations of our Talk Time sharing circle and made sure that we were speaking in full sentences as well as being good listeners while our friends were sharing with the group.

Learning Intention:
- Children explore listening and speaking skills through a variety of literacy experiences
- Listening is an active process that involves - focusing on the speaker, taking turns and using appropriate body postures and gestures

I Can:
- Practise listening and speaking skills through sharing oral stories
- Share personal experiences and stories through listening and speaking with others
- Participate in group discussions
- Demonstrate a variety of listening behaviours

We know that we need to be good listeners and follow the 'Show Me 5' listening expectations during our Talk Time sharing circles, when we are listening to stories and having group discussions.

After having the chance to orally share about all of the things we did during our winter break, students then had the opportunity to draw about what they shared in their journals.
