February 21st - 24th

Wowzers - it sure was cold this past week!
Thank you for making sure that your child came to school each day with warm winter clothes and a happy heart 💗

We have spent the last 3 weeks stretching, balancing and moving our bodies in lots of interesting ways! Our gymnastics unit was lots of fun and a great opportunity to see the students challenge themselves and build their confidence. As the weeks went on it was really evident that the students were refining their gymnastics skills!

We worked on learning and practicing -
  • types of movement (forwards, backwards, sideways, galloping, skipping, jumping, rolling, crab walk, etc.)
  • levels of movement (high, medium, low)
  • balances (bridge, table, boat, superman, tree, etc.)
  • climbing (motorbike grip, 3 on a tree)
Learning Intention:
- Children investigate movement of the body
- Children explore spatial awareness in a variety of physical activity contexts

I Can:
- Practice moving in relation to the location and proximity of people or objects
- recognize that spatial awareness helps people move safely during various physical activities
- Practice movement in any direction from one point to another
- Demonstrate movement of the body in creative ways
