January 23rd - 26th

It was an exciting couple of days when both classes stumbled upon an interesting provocation in our Learning Commons during our library book exchange!
Two very large green boxes...
but what were they for?...what was inside?...where did they come from?!?!

Learning Intention: The child...
- demonstrates awareness of the properties of objects in their environment
- generates ideas to make personal sense of objects, events and relationships

I Can:
- demonstrate awareness of colours, shapes, patterns and textures in the environment
- identify familiar shapes shapes and symbols in my environment and community

We used the thinking routine - 'I see, I think, I wonder...' to start the conversation.

I See...
- "Two green bins" - G
- "Some clipboards" - W
- "locks on there" - E
- "One is shorter and one is taller" - N
-  "There are arrows" - H

I Think...
- "I think the arrows mean that's the way they should go because that arrow points up like the box and the other one is sideways." - M
- "The words are explaining what they are" - I
- "There's a crocodile bone or a turtle bone inside!" - O
- "There are books inside because it's in the library" - M

I Wonder...
- "If we are allowed to open one?" - M
- "If there's a turtle inside because it says Turtle Island?" - W
- "If there is class pets in there?" - F
- "If maybe there are dinosaur fossils inside?" - L

This week we will have the chance to discover what these green boxes are all about!
