January 30th - February 2nd

This week in Kindergarten we read stories, role-played, created, discoveredimagined, adventured, asked questions, found solutions and left Heartprints 💗

Learning Intention:
- Children investigate shapes

I Can:
- Identify familiar 2-D shapes (triangles/circles/squares/rectangles)
- Describe a shape using words such as;  round, flat, curved, straight

Students worked in small groups looking closely at a variety of shapes. Their first task was to identify some of the attributes of the shapes they had in front of them. Students were quick to notice the different colours and types of shapes, and easily sorted the shapes into groups based on those two attributes. When challenged to find alternative attributes to sort the shapes by, students had to look a little more closely and think a little more deeply to come up with some other ways. In the end the students came up with sorting rules based on - colour, shape, size and thickness.

What exactly was in those big green boxes...
...it was Beautiful Art!
Students were excited to see what treasures came from the boxes and if their predictions were right! We will be looking more closely at these beautiful works of art this upcoming week, learning a little more about line, colour, texture, shape and pattern!
