Learning Intention:
- students explore size through direct comparison
I Can:
- identify measurable attributes of familiar objects to which size may refer
- compare the length of two objects directly
- describe the size of an object in relation to another object using comparative language
- describe the size of an object in relation to a purpose or need using comparative language
Students were presented with a variety of objects and were asked to consider how the items were similar and different from each other and what we could do with them. Some of their responses were:
- "Some of these things come from nature and some don't."
- "There are flat things and not flat things."
- "They are made from different materials."
- "We could sort them...like all the coloured things could go together."
- "We could use all of these things to build something!"
- "They are all different sizes."
