April 17th - 21st

It was an exciting week filled with lots of Superhero fun!!

Learning Intention:

  • Identify ways to participate in the community to build a sense of belonging
  • Work and play in harmony with others to create a safe and caring environment
  • Listen to others in a socially appropriate manner

I Can:

  • contribute to my community
  • listen appropriately to others in a group
  • work cooperatively with others in a group

We had an amazing time touring the local Parkland Fire Station #19! We saw so many cool things and learned lots from our firefighter friends! Students enjoyed seeing the trucks, hoses, sliding pole as well as lots of the neat tools that the firefighters use to help them in all kinds of emergencies. We learned that most of the emergencies they attend to aren't even fires! We got to see a demonstration of the Jaws of Life as well as the special thermal camera they use that helps them locate people or animals in a fire. They dressed up in their protective Superhero gear and talked about how it keeps them safe. We saw the big fire engine, the huge tower truck (only the M/W class as it was out on duty on Thursday!) and the bush fire truck.  Students had fun climbing into the fire engine and looking at all the buttons, lights and controls! It was so great to learn all about our community helpers and the hard work that do to help keep us all safe!

We had Constable Steve and Cali back to visit the T/TH class this week! The students were excited to help Cali get ready for Superhero duty by brushing her fur and her teeth, practicing her tricks as well as putting on her important PADS vest. Cali and Constable Steve warmed our hearts and left us lots of Heartprints!
